4. Preparation Blueprint: Strategy & Timeline

Phase-by-phase roadmap, daily study schedule, topper golden rules, and fatal pitfalls to avoid

Topper Strategic Approach

PPSC Prelims is unique because Paper 2 (CSAT) is NOT qualifying — its marks are added to Paper 1! Toppers' Golden Rules

  • •CSAT is your ticket to Mains: Because CSAT marks add to your score, scoring 160+/200 in Paper 2 is practically compulsory.
  • •Zero negative marking means you MUST attempt all 100 GS and all 80 CSAT questions in Prelims without exception.
  • •Passing Punjabi at Matriculation (Class 10) level is non-negotiable; verify eligibility before applying.
  • •Punjab History from 1469 to 1966 is heavily tested in both Prelims and Mains Paper 4.

Fatal Mistakes to Avoid

  • •Treating CSAT as qualifying (like UPSC); in PPSC, poor CSAT performance will directly eliminate you from Mains!
  • •Neglecting Punjabi language paper (Paper 1), which carries 100 merit marks.
  • •Leaving questions unattempted in Prelims despite there being zero negative marking.
  • •Applying without possessing the mandatory Matriculation-level Punjabi language certificate.
